On completion of the required courses you are required to submit the appropriate Painters Registration application form to DMIRS and follow their process.

There are two definable client groups for this course:
1.   People who hold a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or a qualification equivalent to this, or
2.   People with skills and experience in painting and decorating who can demonstrate this in a practical test which is a subset of the Certificate III in Painting and Decorating & proven 5 years painting experience.Â
Group 1
People who hold a Certificate III n Painting and Decorating, or have equivalent qualifications, and wish to develop and/or demonstrate their skills and competencies to become registered painters. This group need the following to support their application to DMIRS:
Evidence of their successful completion of the following two (2) units of competency:
•   BSBSMB401 Establish legal and risk management requirements of small business
•   CPCCBC4004A Identify and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects
And evidence of:

Group 2
The second group are people who do not have trade qualifications and need to demonstrate their painting knowledge and skills as well as develop and/or demonstrate competencies to be recognised as registered painters with 5 years Painting Experience.
