The South Regional TAFE Library and Information Services manage access to training resources across the region to assist you meet your academic goals.
Library services are available to all current South Regional TAFE students and staff. Although the library’s main collections are based at the Bunbury and Albany campuses, all enrolled students and staff members of South Regional TAFE are eligible to request any of the resources from the online catalogue, regardless of location. When you complete this course, you will be ready for a career in the role of a support worker. You will have the skills and knowledge to complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments.
Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to manage risks associated with chemical use, and to understand your obligations in the areas of duty of care, quality assurance and environmental management.
Participants will learn on a practical level how to improve their integrated pest management programmes, to better choose the right chemical for the job and to apply it more accurately. The course is designed for people who will be spraying chemicals without supervision.

This one-day course is an essential update for primary producers in all aspects of chemical use and is designed to maintain AusChem WA accreditation. It covers new information in environmental safety, personal and occupational health and safety, legislation, spraying and calibration techniques, residues and resistance to chemicals.

Certificate II in Autonomous Workplace Operations

This qualification provides the practical skills and knowledge to safely work within an autonomous workplace, demonstrate awareness of what an autonomous workplace is, how it operates, what unique safety systems are present, how the human-machine interface operates and what, why and how data is used within such workplaces.
A familiarisation to the control systems used within industry, the various programming techniques employed and the relevant industry standards governing such systems is also covered.
This course would appeal to students who have a keen interest in IT and robotics. Automation is the creation and application of technologies to produce and deliver goods and services with minimal human intervention. Automation technologies, techniques and processes improve the efficiency, reliability, and/or speed of many tasks previously performed by humans.
Successful completion of the course will see students gain an understanding through interaction with simulated plant operations and robotics. The course prepares students to be work-ready as a trainee or apprentice in an industries which are rapidly becoming more automated including, but not limited to:  mining, refining and oil and gas.

Chainsaw Skill Set

This course covers the process of maintaining, preparing and operating hand-held chainsaws in a work environment.
These skills can be transferred to the homestead, are useful for home gardners and could lead to employment in parks and gardens or landscaping.
You will gain skills and knowledge in understanding the correct type of chainsaw for a particular task, how to use the chainsaw, maintain the chainsaw and store suitable personal protective equipment.
You will also carry out routine checks and maintenance on a chainsaw, apply appropriate chainsaw techniques, cutting methods according to manufacturer’s specifications and documented low risk work procedures; assess and minimise environmental impacts of chainsaw use; maintain records of chainsaw training and certification, risk assessment and use.

Certificate I outcomes focus on the development of literacy skills to create and interpret simple, personally relevant texts and mathematical knowledge to apply numeracy skills in everyday familiar situations. Skills and knowledge are applied to develop and document a learning plan, prepare a portfolio to show evidence of learning and engage in a project.Â

The Heavy Vehicle Driving Operations skill set provides participants real, hands-on experience.Â
In this training program you will learn how to:

- secure, load and unload cargo of goods;
- apply work fatigue management strategies;
- understanding chain of responsibility.Â
The driving instruction training component of the program is conducted in a range of conditions and locations, with coaching from qualified and experienced drivers.
