Do you want to assist in taking care of people?

When you complete this course, you will be ready for a career in Allied Health Assistance. You will have the skills and knowledge to assist allied health staff (i.e., physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists) in a variety of settings (hospital, aged care, private practice) working with a range of clients.

When you complete this course, you will be ready for a career in Allied Health Assistance. You will have the skills and knowledge to assist allied health staff (physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists) by helping implement the patients rehabilitation or maintenance therapy programmes, and in preparing written and verbal reports on their progress.

You will gain these skills

  • Assist to plan and run therapy programs under supervision of an Allied Health Professional
  • Communicate with clients, carers and health teams including reporting to supervisors
  • Interpreting and applying medical terminology
  • Knowledge of the body systems
  • Comply with and apply infection control and work health and safety principles in a health setting
  • Empower older people
  • Provide First Aid
  • Assist with movement of clients with mobility impairment
  • Work appropriately with culturally diverse clients and co workers

South Regional TAFE is transitioning this qualification to the new training package in 2024. Students will be enrolled into the new units developed to meet current and future industry needs. Fees may vary for courses transitioning to the new training package.
